Generally, altcoins attempt to improve upon the basic design of Bitcoin by introducing technology that is absent from Bitcoin. This includes privacy technologies, different distributed ledger architectures and consensus mechanisms.< https://kfastpitch.com/ /p>

IEO stands for Initial Exchange Offering. IEOs share a lot of similarities with ICOs. They are both largely unregulated token sales, with the main difference being that ICOs are conducted by the projects that are selling the tokens, while IEOs are conducted through cryptocurrency exchanges. Cryptocurrency exchanges have an incentive to screen projects before they conduct a token sale for them, so the quality of IEOs tends to be better on average than the quality of ICOs.

ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering and refers to a method of raising capital for cryptocurrency and blockchain-related projects. Typically, a project will create a token and present their idea in a whitepaper. The project will then offer the tokens for sale to raise the capital necessary for funding development. Even though there have been many successful ICOs to date, investors need to be very careful if they are interested in purchasing tokens in an ICO. ICOs are largely unregulated, and very risky.

The 3 major cryptocurrencies by market capitalization are Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Tether (USDT). The combined market capitalizations of these three crypto assets makes up over 70% of the total crypto market.

Purchase cryptocurrency through either a centralized exchange (CEX) like Coinbase or Kraken or a decentralized exchange (DEX) like UniSwap or dYdX. To use most centralized exchanges, you’ll have to go through the Know Your Customer (KYC) process and potentially link your bank account. With a DEX, there is no KYC process, nor is there an option to link a bank account. You can only trade from one crypto to another on a DEX, and you have to know how to use a browser extension wallet like MetaMask to do so.

At the time, nobody knew that Bitcoin would become what it is today. Nobody knew that it would be the start of a huge technological movement… but it was. It was the beginning of cryptocurrencies — the beginning of a new era.

In hot wallets, private keys are stored and encrypted on the app itself, which is kept online. Using a hot wallet can be risky since computer networks have hidden vulnerabilities that can be targeted by hackers or malware programmes to break into the system. Keeping large amounts of cryptocurrency in a hot wallet is a fundamentally poor security practise, but the risks can be mitigated by using a hot wallet with stronger encryption, or by using devices that store private keys in a secure enclave.

When starting a non-custodial wallet, the user is asked to write down and safely store a list of 12 randomly generated words, known as a ‘recovery’, ‘seed’, or ‘mnemonic’ phrase. From this phrase, the user’s public and private keys can be generated. This acts as a backup or recovery mechanism in case the user loses access to their device.

Most web-based crypto wallets, also known as hosted wallets, tend to be custodial wallets. Typically offered on cryptocurrency exchanges, these wallets are known for their convenience and ease of usage, and are especially popular with newcomers, as well as experienced day traders.
